This Just In...
Don't Worry. He's Not "THE ONE" After All

Please don't take offense at these irreverent parodies (the words were offensive enough), but the clips are a good reminder that maybe... just maybe... Obama has been over-rated (even by me). Here's part II, further proof that he falls short of being "THE ONE." If you'd prefer a less messianic and more presidential motif, here's another "profound" Obama moment at Mt. Rushmore.

I'm not saying he won't continue to fool voters long enough to win Tuesday; I'm just saying that apart from a teleprompter, he may lack the lucidity to be "THE ONE" (in spite of the recent prophecies, infatuated voters, zealous followers (fraudulent .hired .hands), blind banking allies, vulgar celebrities, marching youth, swooning throngs, global enchantment, and singing children.)

Bright and early tomorrow, I'll be voting for McCain/Palin. Here's a funny true story about the last time I voted for a long-shot from Arizona back in '64. I was only 8 at the time, but it's true, I went with Goldwater in that year's presidential race.

Knowing McCain has the best chance of bringing about the pending victory in Iraq, it would be a shame to elect an appeaser while so many nefarious eyes anticipate the "international crisis" Joe Biden has promised. One more spoof. This one's about world leader endorsements. Just doing my part to provide a little levity as we watch the last 24 hours play out and then head to the polls.

[Not so funny UPDATE added early Tuesday AM: I don't know about you, but where I voted early this morning, there were official representatives from both parties. It's unbelievable that in many Philadelphia wards the Democrats have kicked out the Republican officials assigned to monitor polls. Also in PA was this case of reverse intimidation.]

Think, talk, pray, vote, pray some more, and remember:
what's in the making is not only history... but His story.
.
.
P.S. The day before the election, this Chicago zine decides it's safe to tell us about William Ayers. The post below about Obama's aunt and his "give aways" to illegal aliens has been updated with this shocking explanation from Lou Dobbs on CNN. This response to Obama's anti-coal agenda was also added at the end.

Dr. John,
Typically I steer clear of anything that approaches irreverence, but after reading countless messianic comparisons for over a year now, this clip made me smile as it reminded me just how far Obama falls short of the lucid clarity and wisdom modeled by our Lord, the Messiah, (for whom no question was above His pay grade).

But I truly don't mean to offend. Thanks for stopping by.

I came across your videos that you posted on You Tube about the hill tribes. I just wanted to share with you that they were very encouraging to me.

Myself and two other men are going to visit the White Lahu in northern Laos this week. We're leaving Thursday and will return on the 16th. I have been very apprehensive about this trip (I know it's the enemy working against what we have to do). But the Lord directed me to your videos and as I said I was greatly encouraged. So much that all of my fears have vanished. Thank you for sharing your wonderful footage of your visits to the hill tribes. Be blessed. Scott Pusey, Bigler, PA. james1.27@verizon net

Scott,
We'll all be watching your state tonight. The keystone state is key to a long-shot upset if it's to be.

But more importantly...
Your random comment out of the blue was a great reminder of the things implied in Christ's command to "occupy 'til I come." I'm glad you found "Patterns of Ink" on Youtube. Those video posts have been since last spring. I am constantly amazed at the traffic they get. That one about the Lahu village is approaching 4,000 views. (Those were Lahu, but I forget which "color.")

When Scott says he'll be ministering to the "white Lahu," that is not a matter of skin color. There are three Lahu tribes: White, Black, and Red. To us, they all look alike. They are all equally "Lahu" but speak different dialects of the language.

Scott, if you look back in September archives, you'll see that the local metro paper wrote a nice article about that documentary we made.
Thanks for stopping by. Have a great trip. There is turmoil there at the moment. Be careful.

Nancy,
It really is in God's hands. We exercise the rights He grants us while they are ours to exercise, but no matter the outcome and what the years ahead hold, it is His story. His hand wrote the score and taps the rhythm.

Well, I cast my vote today around 10:30 a.m. There was not a line, but I found out from one of the judges that early this morning there was quite a long line of people wanting to cast their vote before they went off to work.

I was very pleased when I went to vote today and discovered that one of the judges was my oldest granddaughter (18 and a senior in high school.) My daughter had kept it a secret from my husband and me. She wanted us to be surprised when we went to vote. This was our granddaughter's first election where she was allowed to vote. I was proud of her for voting, but especially for voting for McCain.

I don't want to make a big deal out of what I am about to tell you, but I am a little concerned about the incident. Another of my granddaughters (age 8) told me yesterday about an exchange that took place between a couple of her friends. One friend, a girl, told the other friend, a boy, that she was going to be vote for McCain. I guess they do this in school as part of the civic education. Anyway, the boy who supports Obama told the girl that if she votes for McCain Obama would come and kill her. He spoke in graphic terms too. What do you make of this? What sort of talk do you suppose is going on in that boy's home that might contribute to this kind of attitude?

Regarding political humor, Sarah Palin, played by Tina Fey, says she is not going anywhere after this election if they lose. She is definitely not going back to Alaska she said. She said she plans to become a white Oprah. That cracked me up.

SQ,
I voted at 7:30AM. It's almost a sure thing that McCain will take my county (but not the state--no more than he will Illinois =)

I was invited to go to the Republican "gathering place" to mingle with all the party ranks, etc. I've done it before and it is kind of fun, but instead I went for a bike ride. (I like to do that and it was a beautiful evening.) I went to the end of a long dock that stretches out in the lake by our house and I just watched the sun set.

I'm looking forward to this being over. Notice I didn't say looking forward to things getting back to normal. I don't think we'll know what "normal" is for quite some time. If Obama wins, all sorts of things will change that people did not know was "in the deal." If McCain pulls a "Dewey Defeats Truman" upset, can you imagine what will happen. So either way it will be a while before we know what "normal" means.

I am thinking about relocating all of these political posts deep in the archives tomorrow night. I may pull them altogether--depending on the future of "free speech." How's that for optimism? =)

Tom, I can see why you would want to pull out your political posts from this blog. Why not establish another blog devoted to political speech and put them there? I don't want you to stop writing along political lines, because I think you have a lot of good ideas and you are very resourceful and provide your readers with links as proof.

If Obama gets elected, we are going to be facing many challenges. We will need to be talking to each other about these.

Good idea. You're right. There will be lots to talk about. I'm honored that you think my input on future issues may be of use.

I don't mind being a "voice in the wilderness," it's just that POI has been by design a "front porch" and I feel like I've cluttered it with political yard signs.

A second blog, more issues related, would give me a place to transfer the now moot election conversation, and many other posts through the past four years that would fit the other format better. It will also allow me to "link" to former issues when they become relevant in future posts at POI.

Now let's see if I can figure out how to do it.

HUGE sigh!!!! Have so many thoughts going through my mind. Am in a Precepts study on Daniel and in it have been re-reminded that God is sovereign AND also puts the leaders of the world in place (and more re: this). But none-the-less it troubles me that the guy I didn't vote for may be our leader! History (His Story) shows what happens when "the people" don't listen and follow as they should. So....I would relish having a place to come and "talk"!!

I don't want to be one of those that will be wringing the hands and saying "woe is me" neither! But my allegiance will continue to be to The King!!!

Oh...and I might also add here that the Hub and I did an absentee ballot this year! Think that could be the way to go in the future as well! No mess, no fuss and hopefully it didn't fall by the wayside in the mail!

WSL,
No hand wringing here. I woke up early, becuase believe it or not I really did go to bed early before all the speeches, etc.

I knew we'd hear nothing new. I knew from watching the crowd grow at Grant Park that we'd see nothing new. (By the way, my daughter in Chicago called and woke me up. In an earlier comment I mentioned she was just a five minute walk from Grant Park, but I got Grant mixed up with Millenial Park. Grant is a fifteen minute walk and train ride from downtown.)

You know that huge sigh you mentioned. I had it too. It's what the bike ride in the above post was all about.

I think you know, and millions of others know, that this is not just another presidential election. The historic part was about "race," and frankly that is the coolest consolation prize of last night. I can be happy about that; I get the significance of that and it was one of the reasons I was following this young senator with interest until I started seeing his unmasked ideology.

One thing is for sure, we can't say we didn't know his intentions. What we can say is there was once a nation that would not be drawn to those intentions, but now in the generation taught primarily by the radicals of the "revolution" of the 60's, we were primed for this sort of "change."

So you see, millions of us suspect this is not about one presidential election, this is not about the pendulum swinging to the left for four or eight years. This is about the pendulum being removed as the antiquated way of marking time. This is "change" way beyond the meaning of what the crowd is chanting. People really don't know what happened last night.

I could be wrong, but it all seems so predictable from my perspective. The consequences of liberalism (and yes some socialism) in combination with human nature are very predictable. If that's all that's involved, the pendulum may swing back toward the middle in time. But that may not be all that is involved here, and I guess that makes "predict" the operative word. Will the next four years be merely "predictable" or will they play out as something "predicted." I truly don't know, but I do know history is His story.

Well, this was only supposed to be a comment, and it seems to be the seeds for yet another post... just when I wanted to change the subject. I may take SQ's advice and write about such things on a new post so POI can remain more of a "front porch" (or hearth since winter is approaching) where I share family stories, poems, etc.
I'll let you all now the new address of the other place to chat about dreaded topics of "politics and religion," and other such things.

The thought that came to mind to me this morning is that "He" will give us over to what we deserve! The "entitlement" generation just has no idea about what it is to really work and have to give up some things to achieve what is important. This is apparent both "in the world" and "in the Church" today. The thought is...what will be in it all for me???

I will look foreward to your new "forum"!!!
